A community where words and energy are the pathway to the connection with ourselves and others. Writual is the pause you didn’t know you needed. But it’s not a book club, a meditation class or a writing course.
It’s a place of safety, inspiration and belonging.
Join us online or in-person for Expressive Writing Circles, Shared Reading Sessions, Retreats and More...

Fieldwork
Expressive Writing Circles
This is not a book club or a writing class. Instead, we use poems and short prose pieces as prompts and a way in to our bodies and what is being held there - feelings, memories, wisdom and ideas. These offerings from the body may emerge in the form of a reflection, an idea, a poem or the start of a story. Or have no form at at all, and you just want to sit with the words shared. Past participants include CEOs, mothers, small business owners, students, retirees and writers. Fieldwork offers a pause, a refuelling of creativity, and a connection to ourselves and others. Sessions are typically two hours long, held weekly online or in-person with a new 4-week cycle beginning each month.

Qi, Tea & Poetry
Seasonal Gatherings
These half-day retreats held on or close to the change of each season. The incorporate aspects of Qigong and Qi Healing, Shared Reading, Expressive Writing, Oracle Wisdom as well as a closing Qi Healing.
Shorter Monthly New Moon Circles are held on an ad hoc basis or by request.
Note: Qigong is a practice of mindful movement as well as still meditation. Benefits can include increased energy, improved physical and emotional health and a greater sense of calm, clarity and purpose. Learn more about Ren Xue Yuan Gong Qigong.

A Story Shared
Shared Reading & Slow Reads
Press pause and enjoy two hours of being present in a small relaxed social group reading and discussing short stories and more. Or just sit back and listen. Easy, fun and so good for mind, body and soul.
In addition to Shared Reading we also offer Slow Reads where we take a book and slow read it together in circle over several months discussing and integrating what we learn. Unlike a book club there is nothing to do outside of sessions.
Chantal is a certified Shared Reading NSW Facilitator. Read more about the benefits here.

The Sunday Remedy
A little Sunday Market dedicated to slow living and built on the same values that Writual is founded on: Community, Self-Expression, Creativity and Authenticity.
This market happens every fourth Sunday of the month in April, May and June. We bring together 2-3 intentional brands at The Bronte Dispensary for a few hours on a Sunday morning.
We are looking for small-batch, handcrafted and slow-spun founder-led offerings. If your work is born from passion and intentionality, we’d love to hear from you. It is free to participate. Spaces are limited.

Acknowledgement of Country
I acknowledge the land and waterways of the Bidjigal and Gadigal people where I live, write, and work. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and to any First Nations or Torres Strait Islander Peoples visiting here. Because Writual is about words, stories, and healing, I especially want to honour these cultures as the original storytellers and custodians of this land that was never ceded.
Always Was, Always Will Be.
