About Writual and Chantal

Writual is the pause you didn’t know you needed. A community where words and energy are the pathway to connection with ourselves and others. But it’s not a book club, a meditation class or a writing course. It’s a place of safety, inspiration and belonging.

I’ve guided circles for everyone from C-level executives to artists, writers, full-time mothers, students, and retirees. Despite the different backgrounds, the result is the same: people finding a rare sense of pause, new insights into themselves, ideas for their lives and work, and a deeper connection with others. Quite often, they rediscover a creative side to themselves they didn’t know was still there.

Writual offers ways to get away from the day-to-day and find rest and flow. In Buddhism, it’s called Citta-passaddhi (tranquillity of the mental factors), or in neuroscience, it’s called the Alpha Bridge – a place where we turn down the volume on the inner critic so we can hear what the heart and body want to tell us.

So whether through poetry, story, qi gong or an expressive writing circle, you’ll come away feeling as if you’ve just meditated for two hours – nourished, rested and reconnected to yourself. And ready for the rest of your week.

A note on Creativity and Creative Expression: I hear so many times, ‘But I am not creative,’ But creativity is an innately human process. We are creating all the time; when we plan, solve, build, write an email, or cook dinner! But many of us have forgotten this about ourselves. I create the conditions - safety, inspiration and belonging - that allow your innate creativity to thrive and the words you want to express come forth. And with that flow comes that feeling of nourishment and rest.

A note to writers: We can get so caught up in craft, technique, literariness and getting published that we’ve forgotten what drew us to writing in the first place: A love of language, the power of expression and the feelings it can evoke in us and, the connecting power of story. Writual brings us back to that place of inspiration making these sessions highly generative. You’ll come away with a new ideas for stories, poems, essays and more.
